As I ready myself for a 24 hour day of traveling, I had to think of every little thing I may want or need when in the air and on a buss.
I love traveling as much as any world traveler desires, but not all experiences are ones we want to remember, but you can at least make every trip the best possible by being prepared and ready for anything.
My trip involved driving 4 hours to Chicago, a 1 hour flight to Detroit, a 9 hour flight to Frankfurt, then a 5 hour bus ride to Credo Switzerland. If the list of different travels did not sound exhausting enough, our first flight was delayed an hour, we had 10 minutes to catch our international flight, and for our bus ride in Switzerland all drivers for large groups must stop around ever 2-3 hours (This was great to be able to stop and stretch, but bathrooms over here cost money! YES, you must pay to pee).
Packing the perfect carry on items made this trip possible, for myself, and for the others that were less fortunate in their packing preparation.
It is amazing what all you learn you need when traveling and how thankful I was I packed what I did. I can say with confidence I will be fully prepared for my flight home in 3 months (although I hope my trip goes by slow)

Here are my top ten essential carry on items:
1. Wipes: For this trip I brought two different kinds of wipes. The first is a fully body cleansing towelette. There is no way after my 10 hour flight you will feel fresh, and these help. They are moisturizing (from all that dry air) and can be used all over. Second is an antibacterial wipe, not for me but for everything else. The first I did after sitting down in my seat was wipe the tray table, window, and light buttons, this should make the hours more comfortable and much cleaner.
2. Kindle: Being I am doing Study Abroad with my school I have a million books on my Kindle and that is what will be most affect for my travels- but an old fashioned book will always do.
3. Snacks: Food on planes is never great, especially when all you will do is sit for 10+ hours. Bring healthy snacks that will make you feel better (my choice for this trip were pistachios, Quest Bars, and fresh fruit).
4. Water bottle: Fill your water bottle up as soon as you get through security and make yourself drink when flying. It is so important to stay hydrated when traveling.
5. Sleep Mask: I love a sleeping mask for flying. It blocks the sun from your eyes and make it that much easier to get some beauty sleep for the fun adventures that lie ahead (and mine is lined in silk so it won't mess up your make-up).
6. Chapstick: Because no body likes chapped lips.
7. Neck Pillow: Although they may be bulky to carry, it is well worth to be able to sleep without a neck ache.
8. Socks: My feet are always freezing on planes, so packing a pair of warm socks is needed for those chilly flights.
9. Head Phones: Make a playlist ahead of time, so you can relax and enjoy some tunes.
10. Bag: I love traveling with my Osprey backpack and wouldn't image traveling to Europe without anything else. It has a million pockets and compartments and can be accessed from the top or bottom. I have also packed over 50lbs in it when it is expended fully- but it can also be shrunken into a normal backpack size (perfect for all the souvenirs I hope to bring home).

My carry on packing list made my trip easy, clean, and fun. I was somewhat the mom of the group, taking care of people were thankful for my preparation. It is all worth packing to have a great travel experiencing and thankfully mine was.
